Our adult prevention services are designed to address the unique mental health and substance use challenges that arise across adulthood. Guided by the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), our programming seeks to build resilience, reduce risk factors, and strengthen protective factors within adult populations, with a strong focus on equity, trauma-informed care, and community collaboration.
1. Information Dissemination
• Distribution of culturally competent educational materials addressing stress, depression, trauma, substance use, and suicide prevention in adults.
• Community presentations and health fair participation on topics such as overdose prevention, self-care, healthy relationships, and accessing care.
• Digital campaigns and newsletters targeting adults with information on mental health literacy, harm reduction, and recovery support.
2. Prevention Education (Evidence-Based)
• Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) for Adults: Teaches participants how to recognize, respond to, and support others experiencing mental health challenges.
• QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Suicide Prevention Training: Increases awareness of suicide risk factors and builds confidence in intervention skills.
• Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP): A peer-developed approach that teaches adults how to build personal wellness plans, manage triggers, and maintain recovery.
• Strengthening Families for Adults: Workshops that support parenting adults, improve communication, and reduce intergenerational cycles of trauma and substance use.
3. Problem Identification and Referral
• Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) for adults in primary care, housing programs, shelters, and job readiness services.
• Collaboration with primary care providers and social service agencies to identify early signs of behavioral health challenges and connect individuals to appropriate care.
• Providing walk-in access to mental health screenings and peer support navigation.
